BACK - TO - SCHOOL

A donation of $150 US a year, assures that one of our SSS school - aged child will attend school because all the necessary school needs will be met. $150 US is a very reasonable cost to provide education for a child.

The funds will be used to purchase school bags and school supplies, school uniforms, two pairs of socks and a pair of shoes.  It will also cover miscellaneous fees such as tuition and school projects.

All the families we serve are very poor.  Families here very seldom have any extra money.  They are struggling to feed their families each day.  Families go into debt during this season to ensure that their children go to school.  Some will not be able to go without sponsors help. 

Some of our children are 16 years old in grade 5 (should be about age 10 in grade 5).  This is because the families cannot afford to send their children to school.  With too many children to supply materials and uniforms for, they need the older children to do jobs to bring in money for the families.  Some children will take a couple of years out and then return to school and are placed in the same grade they had finished in.

Lack of educated people is a major contributor to the poverty-mentality so prevalent in the Philippines.  The uneducated lack vision for their lives and without education they are not able to procure better jobs.  It is imperative that we keep this generation of children in school so they will have a better standard of living then their parents.
