METRO MINISTRIES PHILIPPINES

BEGINNINGS

The Philippine connection to New York’s Metro Ministries was established when Pastor Bill merged vision and commitment with Pastor Paul Chase of Alabang New Life Christian Center.  With the expanse of poverty-stricken neighborhoods of Manila as the backdrop, 2001 witnessed the beginnings of Metro Philippines with a staff of three, eight partner churches and reached about 1,500 children. Today,  with a staff of 14, we are in partnership with over 60 local churches and reaching an average of 20,000 children each week of Sidewalk Sunday School.

The purpose of Metro Philippines is to provide an opportunity for many people to work together toward fulfilling the Great Commission in our generation. Through our main tools of Sidewalk Sunday School and Visitation, we are able to concentrate on reaching the children and their families with the love of God.

The organization allows individuals to utilize their areas of knowledge, wisdom, and gifts while providing a common vision in which to focus these attributes. Primarily birthed as an outreach to children in the underprivileged areas of Metro Manila, it has become an example for church partnering and effective evangelism for this millennium. Metro is a special ministry focused on winning, building, training, and sending out men and women to carry out the mandate given by God to reach the Filipino children.

In  2006, with the assistance of a Foursquare Foundation Grant, we expanded from Manila to more areas throughout the Philippines.  Within a few weeks, 50 churches joined and 50 additional Sidewalk Sunday School sites were started, bringing hope to thousands of children before they are hardened by life and wrecked by worldly standards.

Metro Philippines is a Training center.  This work has developed into a movement across the Philippines to train up teams from the local churches using methods and principles developed by Pastor Bill Wilson.  Its use has proven to be effective in reaching thousands of children in many countries.

The places already developed in Palawan, Davao, Digos, Iligan City, Cotabato, Caygayan de Oro, Leyte, Bulacan, and Pangasinan are continually expanding into more towns as pastors and volunteers are trained to do the work.  Many of the teams are young people from the churches, and have previously been the ones sitting on the tarps listening to the Bible lessons.  Metro Philippines has a volunteer base of over 1500 workers from the local church.

Metro Philippines hosts an Internship Program of three months duration, and a 12 - week Metro Training School.   We also have a Scholarship Program, bringing assistance to some of our volunteers who need financial help for their education.

Metro Philippines is funded through the generosity of people who have heard Pastor Bill speak at churches around the world and by our Won by One Child Sponsorship Program.

Metro Philippines is a non-stock non-profit organization registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. It is recognized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, by the Bureau of Internal Revenue, and by the Philippine Council of NGO Certification.
